About StackZone

We are a startup obsessed with simplifying cloud management. We exist to democratise the public cloud by allowing every company to simply manage and implement cloud workloads within best practice frameworks. We do this through our unique platform, which can manage multi-cloud environments in a simple, cost-optimised, and secure way.

Guided by our customer feedback, with a foundation in automation and best practice, our vision is to become the leading multi-cloud Managed Services Platform, enabling cloud users to grow their businesses without the burden of security, cost management, or governance.

We want everyone at StackZone to believe in the impact they can have in helping us achieve our vision; to see the connection between what they do every day and tangible progress for themselves and the business.

We're a remote-first company with a truly global team (three continents and counting) and we're growing fast. If you're someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and relentless curiosity who wants to work hard and see the rewards, we might be your kind of people.

What is the Head of Engineering responsible for?

As a Head of Engineering, you are responsible for ensuring that design requirements are met, overseeing the consistency of user experiences, managing a team of engineers and developers, collaborating with product managers, and improving company policies and standards.

You are responsible for developing the core product at the heart of the business: what we are selling, what people are using and buying. Also, to assess the time it will take to deliver features (or products) and deliver quality releases on that schedule. You will determine delivery dates, hit all the right dates, and prioritize development by group consensus.

Most importantly, you will be responsible for our engineering team, hiring, delegating, coaching and offering guidance to help them perform at their best. Your job is to translate business objectives into detailed plans and deliverables and assign them to the right people. That's not just about being a good project manager; it's about recognizing who on your team is the best fit for a task and why.

You will track performances and outcomes in an environment where people feel empowered to take ownership, give honest feedback and ask for help. You will work with the team as we grow to shape and protect our engineering culture.

Your days of work will normally be Monday to Friday, the hours of work are 9 to 5.30 UK time, but due the nature of the business you might be required to assist outside normal working hours. Occasional UK and overseas travel may be required.
